Adventures of last minute travel

Mr Pilot is in Pensacola for the month. He surprised me with last minute tickets to visit him for the long weekend. What kind of fun does buying your tickets last minute get you? You get flagged for security. Want more fun??! Have a lay over in Vegas & switch terminals. It'll get you that special treatment search again. Some how I cleared the San Diego TSA security with flying colors but set alarms off in Vegas. Dress me in bright orange & stamp "TROUBLE" on my forehead! My shoes came up for explosive residue. Ok, so they didn't come up with anything in SD, but your machine says something different. Um, yeah... What I really wanted to tell the lady but kindly refrained from doing (not wanting to cause further trouble) was that she figured out my soccer mom secret. Yep, folks, after I put the kids to bed I put on my robe & black heels, go into the garage & practice my bomb making techniques because I just have that much energy left over at night. (TOTAL SARCASM PEOPLE!!) Anyways, she re-x-rayed my shoes & determined they weren't super secret squirrel shoes (re: Get Smart) & let me go on my merry way. So I flew from SD to Vegas to Atlanta to Pensacola. I'm thinking Airtran is not on my list of air lines to fly again (that list is getting shorter & shorter). In Vegas they changed our gate with out any announcement but swore up & down they did announce it. Apparently they have a bad habit of doing this. The more I tell people about the experience they tell me they had one similar. It's a good thing I was one gate down. I know for sure they didn't announce it. I start talking to the couple next to me while on the plane. Turns out they (among a good portion of our flight) were suppose to be on another flight to Milwaukee to get back to NY. Milwaukee had bad weather & they were delayed. While delayed one of the toilets on the plane broke. So the flight was cancelled. They were told if they took this flight to Atlanta there would be a connecting one to NY. What did I find out once in Atlanta? Well once again my gate was WRONG. So I stood in line to find out where I was suppose to be. The guy in front of me was one of the transferred passengers promised a connecting flight to NY that night. What was there not? A connecting flight to NY. Turns out Vegas/Airtran had too many people with cancelled flights to shack up that they started sending people else where. Niiiiiice! Anyways, I made it to Pensacola safely. Security being my only adventures.
